Crowe Creative is an art service business established in 2014, run by Deborah Crowe - visual artist and creative producer. Delivering expertise in three strands – mentoring, workshops and consulting, Crowe Creative is small and client focused; tailoring services to the needs of individuals, groups, institutions or businesses. 

 

With over thirty five years experience in the art world, an award winning art practitioner, respected tertiary educator of 28 years and professional mentor, Deborah Crowe’s skills are utilised by Crowe Creative in the provision of professional development for visual practitioners and other groups keen to employ creative thinking skills as part of their business development. Crowe Creative engages with practitioners and professionals from a wide network of contacts.

 

Deborah Crowe completed her degree and postgraduate study at Glasgow School of Art, Scotland, and has exhibited in a variety of art and design contexts, nationally and internationally, since 1982. Between 1986 and 2014 she concurrently held a number of senior tertiary teaching and academic positions after relocating from Scotland to Aotearoa New Zealand. In 2016 Crowe received an ART* Venture Creative Entrepreneur Award.

 

Crowe has worked as a curator, a production designer, a fashion designer (Fraser Crowe) and consulted to many art agencies including Creative New Zealand, Artists Alliance, NZQA and Objectspace where she sat on the Board of Trustees for 9 years. In 2018 she was invited to judge the Molloy Morpeth Canaday 3D Award, a national award for 3-dimensional art, and from 2019-2021 Crowe was a Trustee on the Board of New Zealand Fashion Museum. She has sustained art and business practice that thrives on provision of high quality work. She has completed many creative collaborative projects and commissions, including a number of large public artworks for clients such as Auckland Council and Link Alliance (City Rail Link).

 

Known for her impeccable professionalism, consistent delivery of high quality results and an energetic approach to getting the job done, Deborah’s leadership through Crowe Creative utilises her creative and professional skills as an artist and freelance advisor, teacher and mentor. She has practiced from the space she named Studio 1B, adjoining Auckland Council's Studio One Toi Tū community centre at 1B Ponsonby Rd, Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland since 2006.

 

The services that Crowe Creative provides emerge from sustained experience and ongoing participation and operation in the contemporary art world; in supporting practitioners and clients’ needs; and in bridging practical and professional situations with a solutions-focused approach.
